Scrummy Cream didn’t start as a business. It started as a conviction, that a truly non-toxic, natural skin cream with no nasties shouldn’t be this hard to find. So I stopped looking and started making.
It started with olive oil and very oily trousers!
Back when I was working as a reflexologist, I was going through olive oil by the bucketful, brilliant for clients’ feet, absolutely catastrophic for everything else within a two-metre radius. Clothes, towels, treatment room floor. All casualties.
I needed something stable, nourishing, and genuinely kind to skin that I could use day in, day out with every client. So I looked at what existed. Everything was either eye-wateringly expensive, packed with seed oils, or loaded with synthetic additives I wouldn’t want anywhere near someone’s skin. None of it was what I’d call truly non-toxic.

Our eldest has eczema. That changed everything.
For years, Scrummy Cream was just ours, something we reached for at home. On hands after washing up, on the kids’ dry patches, after showers. It was simply the cream we used.
Then we started paying attention to what it was doing for our eldest. He has eczema, and his skin had always been reactive, sore, and difficult to settle. We had been prescribed lotion from the Doctor, but wanted to stick to something natural.
Scrummy Cream calmed his skin. The soreness eased. Watching it happen, really noticing it, was the moment everything shifted.
We gave it away as Christmas gifts, and then the messages started.
The first batch went out as Christmas gifts to friends and family, just a homemade something, no plan attached.
Then the messages arrived. “Can I get more?” “Would you ever sell this?”
Pricing had never crossed my mind, which is where Bailey came in. An engineer to his core, he is constitutionally incapable of just picking a number and hoping for the best. Spreadsheet produced. Romantic, it was not. Accurate, it absolutely was.
With my marketing background, I built the website. A decade-long kitchen project became a proper little business.
We use it for everything. Genuinely.
